Handcrafted in Nepal, this Marigold Lokta Paper is lightly flecked with real dried petals, bringing warmth and charm to any creative project.

The golden tones add a cheerful but natural touch, perfect for spring and summer displays. Each 51x76cm sheet is made from Daphne bark, sustainably harvested and sun-dried by local artisans. The fibrous texture is wonderfully tactile, while the floral inclusions make every sheet unique.

Whether wrapping products, decorating shelves or crafting handmade tags, this paper brings a soft, uplifting presence to your retail space.

Please note: Each sheet of paper is handmade, so slight variations in colour, design, weight, and thickness are to be expected. These natural differences are part of the charm and uniqueness of the product.

What is Lokta Paper?

Lokta is a natural, eco-friendly paper made from the bark of the Daphne plant, which grows in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayan region, particularly in Nepal. The plant is notable for its ability to regenerate after harvesting, making it a sustainable resource that doesn’t require deforestation.

To make Lokta paper, the bark is stripped from the plant without damaging its roots. It's then soaked, pulped by hand, and spread into sheets using traditional wooden frames. These sheets are sun-dried and sometimes further embellished with petals, leaves, cotton fibres, or natural dyes. The process is labour-intensive but environmentally low-impact, often carried out in small village workshops as part of fairly traded, community-led production.

Lokta paper is valued for its strength, durability, and rich texture. Unlike mass-produced papers, it has a naturally fibrous, slightly irregular surface that gives it a distinctive handmade character. It’s resistant to tearing and humidity, making it popular for wrapping, bookbinding, and crafting.
