Agnes + Cat began in the Lake District, where the surrounding landscape, changing seasons and countryside scents inspired the first candles and bath products. It was a small northern brand with a clear sense of place - and customers rather liked it.
As demand grew, the original creators partnered with Ancient Wisdom to help produce and promote the range. In 2019, the Sheffield team took over the reins when the Lake District creators moved on to other things. The hand and body creams carry that fragrance-first approach into everyday skincare. Each formula includes sunflower seed oil alongside another plant oil selected for the individual variety. Clementine, for example, contains apricot kernel oil, while Sea Salt & Moss contains olive oil and Moroccan Roll uses jojoba oil. The precise ingredient list should always be checked on the individual product page or bottle.
So there is a useful little story for the shop counter: inspired by the Lakes, developed further in Sheffield and still made in small batches in the north of England. Not a bad journey for a bottle of hand cream.
