Each stand begins as a piece of albasia wood, a lightweight timber particularly well suited to carving and shaping. Also known in Indonesia as sengon, albasia is one of the world’s fastest-growing timber trees and is widely cultivated in Indonesian smallholder plantations. Its rapid growth and ability to be replanted relatively quickly make it a sustainable choice for decorative wooden products.
The wood is carved with raised decorative patterns before being hand-finished in either Turquoise Gold or White Gold. The gently distressed colouring gives each stand an aged, vintage appearance without looking too formal or overly polished.
Available in three popular sizes — approximately 30 cm, 34 cm and 40 cm — they can be sold separately or grouped together to create an attractive graduated display. They look particularly effective on mantelpieces, dining tables, shelves and wedding displays.
