HEM Famous Hexagonal Incense
  • A recognised repeat-purchase name – HEM brings more than four decades of Indian incense expertise to an affordable, consumable range that customers can revisit for favourite fragrances and new discoveries.

  • A hard-won European supply route – Ancient Wisdom’s new HEM distribution relationship makes this established brand easier for independent retailers to mix, replenish and consolidate with an AW wholesale order.

  • Fragrance choice with structure – Familiar florals, woods and mystical favourites sit alongside Precious, Masala, Smudge and collection lines, giving retailers several customer routes within one brand.

  • Small packs, strong shelf presence – The colourful six-sided boxes form a distinctive HEM display while keeping individual fragrance names easy to browse.

  • An easier first order – Ready-made starter assortments remove much of the guesswork, while matching single-fragrance trade packs make successful scents simple to top up.

  • Several ways to trade up – Core Hexa packs sit naturally beside richer Masala choices and themed collections with ashcatchers, creating both entry purchases and step-up options.

  • Obvious add-on sales – Pair the range with incense holders and ashcatchers, or group complementary fragrances into an easy gift selection.

Four Decades of Heritage

HEM traces its beginnings to a Shah family venture in Mumbai. Its timeline dates the business to 1980, the first Mumbai factory to 1983, its fragrance laboratory to 1985 and the flagship HEM Precious range to 1988. The company is now led by a third generation.

This is not a heritage story invented for a new packet. HEM is an established Indian fragrance house that grew from three brothers, developed its own scents and took Indian incense into international markets.

Not a New Brand – a New Route Into It

HEM has been exported since the 1990s and its hexagonal packs are already familiar in many UK and European incense shops. Ancient Wisdom spent years securing this European distribution relationship, so the opportunity is not to explain an unknown brand from scratch; it is to make a recognised one easier to buy.

Hexa Is the Box, Not the Blend

“Hexa” describes the six-sided carton. It does not describe an ingredient or recipe. HEM separates its standard Hexagonal and Masala incense into different ranges, and it uses more than one manufacturing method across the wider business.

From Chandan to Palo Santo

The fragrance list shows how an Indian incense house became an international one. Chandan is the familiar Indian name for sandalwood, while jasmine, rose and patchouli belong naturally in the long story of Indian fragrance and agarbatti.

White Sage, Palo Santo, Dragon’s Blood and other modern esoteric favourites reflect the wider global market HEM now serves. Names such as Opium and White Musk describe a fragrance direction; they should not be treated as literal ingredient declarations.

This mixture of Indian classics and worldwide scent ideas is the genuine HEM story—more interesting, and more honest, than pretending every packet contains an ancient temple formula.

Display & Marketing Ideas

  • Build a HEM wall, not a scatter – Face the hexagonal boxes together in a strong branded block so their colour and repeated shape do the first piece of selling.

  • Group by the nose – Arrange florals, woods and resins, fresh or herbal choices, and warmer mystical fragrances together; then use shelf labels to distinguish standard Hexa, Precious, Masala and Smudge lines.

  • Put the starter route first – Give the starter assortments a prominent position on the family page as the quickest way for a new stockist to build an opening HEM selection.

  • Offer an unlit scent library – Keep a labelled tester stick for each key fragrance in a small lidded jar or sample tray, allowing customers to compare aromas without burning incense in the shop.

  • Complete the ritual – Place simple ashcatchers and more decorative incense holders immediately beside the packs, and clearly flag collection lines that already include an ashcatcher.

  • Photograph the whole colour story – A full, tightly arranged HEM display will communicate the scale of the choice far better online than a procession of isolated packet shots.
