Put your name on the shelf – Build an oil range customers come back to your shop for. Build your own brand to avoid direct price comparisons.
AW oils behind your label – These are pre-filled Ancient Wisdom oils supplied for your own branding. You have an established aromatherapy supplier behind the range without having to source and fill each bottle yourself.
Make the range look like your shop – Choose presentation that sit happily beside the rest of your products. A village gift shop and an urban wellness store need not have the same look.
Room to set your own price – Your identity and presentation give you more scope to earn a healthy margin.
Speak your customers’ language – Localise the label style for the customers you sell to; choose the oils they actually ask for.
Buy what you sell – Boxes of ten 10ml bottles gives you flexible control of stock.
One small bottle. Quite a big idea.
Look along a shelf of essential oils and you will often see the same brands in several shops. Then a customer checks the price on a phone. Putting your shop’s name on the bottle changes that conversation. The customer remembers where they found the oil, the advice and the range you chose. A stronger identity can give you room for a better margin, though it still has to be earned with good presentation and a sensible price.
Ancient Wisdom began with essential oils on a Sheffield market stall. Developing a brand of your own, however small, is an idea close to that story. These bottles arrive filled as AW oils, in brown boxes of ten bottles of the same 10ml oil. You choose the scents, the look of the label and the local market you are speaking to. No filling bench required.
Your label has a job to do
The freedom to design a label comes with a responsibility: the finished label needs the right identity, contents, warnings and other information for the oil, its intended use and the place you sell it. Check the documentation for each code before designing or translating labels. AW supplies the oils; your finished own-brand presentation still needs checking before sale.
There are differences within the range worth spelling out. Frankincense comes in pure and diluted versions. Jasmine, rose, neroli and Roman chamomile are listed as dilutions; melissa is a blend and benzoin is marked as a DPG dilution. A pretty label should never hide what is actually in the little bottle.
Selling, Display & Marketing Ideas
Start with a short shelf – Give lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus and a few citrus oils a clear first display. Add specialist bottles when customers show you what they want.
Show the finished bottle – Photograph a real, labelled 10ml bottle beside the box it arrived in. It tells a prospective customer more than another grand picture of a lavender field.
Offer a few scents to try – Use managed testers or blotters in line with each oil’s handling guidance. Keep sale bottles closed, and keep the pure, diluted and blended descriptions easy to see.
