Med Lokta Bold Floral Bamboo Lock Notebook Lrg (15x12cm) - 45 leafs - Moss Green

Lokta-24
RRP: €9.60

This medium-sized Lokta notebook is all about quiet detail and everyday usability. The moss green cover features layered botanical forms that feel subtle rather than decorative, giving it a calm, natural look that suits thoughtful writing and daily use.

The bamboo stick closure runs along the spine, offering a distinctive alternative to button fastenings while keeping pages neatly secured. Compact but well-balanced, the format sits comfortably in the hand or bag, making it ideal for notes on the go, personal reflections, or creative ideas captured in the moment.

Inside are 45 handmade pages made from traditional Lokta paper, each sheet carrying the texture and character that comes from small-batch production in Nepal. The notebook feels lightweight yet purposeful, positioned perfectly between a gift item and a practical stationery essential.

What is Lokta Paper?

Lokta is a natural, eco-friendly paper made from the bark of the Daphne plant, which grows in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayan region, particularly in Nepal. The plant is notable for its ability to regenerate after harvesting, making it a sustainable resource that doesn’t require deforestation.

To make Lokta paper, the bark is stripped from the plant without damaging its roots. It's then soaked, pulped by hand, and spread into sheets using traditional wooden frames. These sheets are sun-dried and sometimes further embellished with petals, leaves, cotton fibres, or natural dyes. The process is labour-intensive but environmentally low-impact, often carried out in small village workshops as part of fairly traded, community-led production.

Lokta paper is valued for its strength, durability, and rich texture. Unlike mass-produced papers, it has a naturally fibrous, slightly irregular surface that gives it a distinctive handmade character. It’s resistant to tearing and humidity, making it popular for wrapping, bookbinding, and crafting.
