Med Lokta Bold Floral Bamboo Lock Notebook Lrg (15x12cm) - 45 leafs - Midnight Blue

Lokta-27
RRP: €9.60

This midnight blue notebook brings a cooler, more graphic energy to the medium Lokta bamboo lock range. The deep blue surface carries tonal floral forms that shift with the light, giving the cover a sense of movement rather than ornament.

A slim bamboo locking rod secures the pages and adds a linear contrast to the organic paper texture. The compact format keeps the notebook portable and unobtrusive, suited to customers who prefer something refined and functional over decorative.

Inside, 45 handmade Lokta paper pages provide a lightly textured surface that responds well to pen or pencil. Ideal for focused notes, quick sketches, or ideas captured on the go, it encourages regular use.

What is Lokta Paper?

Lokta is a natural, eco-friendly paper made from the bark of the Daphne plant, which grows in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayan region, particularly in Nepal. The plant is notable for its ability to regenerate after harvesting, making it a sustainable resource that doesn’t require deforestation.

To make Lokta paper, the bark is stripped from the plant without damaging its roots. It's then soaked, pulped by hand, and spread into sheets using traditional wooden frames. These sheets are sun-dried and sometimes further embellished with petals, leaves, cotton fibres, or natural dyes. The process is labour-intensive but environmentally low-impact, often carried out in small village workshops as part of fairly traded, community-led production.

Lokta paper is valued for its strength, durability, and rich texture. Unlike mass-produced papers, it has a naturally fibrous, slightly irregular surface that gives it a distinctive handmade character. It’s resistant to tearing and humidity, making it popular for wrapping, bookbinding, and crafting.
