This patchwork Lokta notebook is designed to be visually expressive and deliberately irregular. The cover is formed from individually patterned paper sections, layered together to create a lively, collage-style surface where no two notebooks are ever quite the same.
Each piece is handcrafted in Nepal using traditional Lokta paper, giving the notebook a textured feel that reflects its handmade construction rather than polished uniformity. The wooden button fastening and fabric bookmark bring structure to the bold surface, balancing creativity with everyday usability.
Inside are 45 handmade pages, offering a generous space for free-form writing, sketching, or idea-driven work. The larger format allows customers to use it as a creative journal, visual notebook, or statement stationery piece.

Lokta is a natural, eco-friendly paper made from the bark of the Daphne plant, which grows in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayan region, particularly in Nepal. The plant is notable for its ability to regenerate after harvesting, making it a sustainable resource that doesn’t require deforestation.
To make Lokta paper, the bark is stripped from the plant without damaging its roots. It's then soaked, pulped by hand, and spread into sheets using traditional wooden frames. These sheets are sun-dried and sometimes further embellished with petals, leaves, cotton fibres, or natural dyes. The process is labour-intensive but environmentally low-impact, often carried out in small village workshops as part of fairly traded, community-led production.
Lokta paper is valued for its strength, durability, and rich texture. Unlike mass-produced papers, it has a naturally fibrous, slightly irregular surface that gives it a distinctive handmade character. It’s resistant to tearing and humidity, making it popular for wrapping, bookbinding, and crafting.
