Inspired by traditional Himalayan prayer flags, this Lokta notebook carries symbolic motifs and script-style detailing that give it a strong cultural identity. The layered panels and contrasting colours create a framed effect, making the cover feel structured and purposeful rather than decorative.
Produced by hand in Nepal using authentic Lokta paper, the notebook has a naturally fibrous surface that reinforces its heritage roots. The medium format keeps it practical and approachable, suited to customers who value meaning and craftsmanship over trend-led design.
Inside, 45 handmade pages provide a tactile writing surface ideal for journaling, reflections, or mindful note-taking. The paper’s natural tone and texture encourage a slower, more intentional writing experience.

Lokta is a natural, eco-friendly paper made from the bark of the Daphne plant, which grows in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayan region, particularly in Nepal. The plant is notable for its ability to regenerate after harvesting, making it a sustainable resource that doesn’t require deforestation.
To make Lokta paper, the bark is stripped from the plant without damaging its roots. It's then soaked, pulped by hand, and spread into sheets using traditional wooden frames. These sheets are sun-dried and sometimes further embellished with petals, leaves, cotton fibres, or natural dyes. The process is labour-intensive but environmentally low-impact, often carried out in small village workshops as part of fairly traded, community-led production.
Lokta paper is valued for its strength, durability, and rich texture. Unlike mass-produced papers, it has a naturally fibrous, slightly irregular surface that gives it a distinctive handmade character. It’s resistant to tearing and humidity, making it popular for wrapping, bookbinding, and crafting.
